Iran’s ‘Elephantbird’ to vie at Batumi in Georgia

Iranian-Afghan film ‘Elephantbird’ is to attend the 14th Batumi Int'l Art-House Film Festival in Georgia.

Iranian-Afghan film ‘Elephantbird’ has made it to the 14th Batumi International Art-House Film Festival (BIAFF) in Georgia.

Amir Masoud Soheili’s film will compete at the Georgian festival which is set to open on Sunday.

“The last wish of an old Afghan man is to give his ‘elephant-bird’ (turkey) to his grandchild, but this simple wish is hard to realize,” a synopsis for the film reads.

‘Elephantbird’ attended the 23rd AVANCA - International Meeting of Cinema, TV, Video and Multimedia in Portugal this July.

Earlier reports said that Amir Gholami’s ‘The Sea Swells’ and ‘Delirium’ by Vahid and Navid Nami will vie at the same edition of the BIAFF.

The Batumi International Art-House Film Festival is aimed to enhance cultural exchange, understanding, and collaboration through the screening of new art house-house and non-commercial films from Georgia and other countries, according to the BIAFF’s website.

The 14th edition of the festival will be held on September 15-22, 2019.
